Have a Sweet Holiday!

Before I take some time of to enjoy the Holidays with my family, I'd like to share some of my favorite recipes with you.  They will all be sweet.  Because that is what I do best.  I can cook, but I am not that great at it, nor do I enjoy it.  Baking is my fav!

This is my all time favorite cookie recipe.  I always receive compliments when I share these cookies.  I love to change it up slightly.  For example I will divide the recipe in half and make 1 half with mini chocolate chips & peanut butter chips and the other half with white chocolate chips & macadamia nuts.  My trick: under cook them ever so slightly.

This recipe I received from my mother's bff.  It were passed down to her by her mother.  When I was a little girl, I look forward to these cookies.  I still look forward to them!  They are so light and delicious.

This last recipe I have never tried but am really excited about.  Usually on Christmas morning I make apple pancakes.  My fiance is not a big fan of anything fruit so I'm going to try this instead.

Blue....

Inspired by my super fun plans for tonight... Blue Man Group!  Going to see the show in Denver.  I have a feeling it will be a lot different from the first time.  I saw it in the tiny Astor Place Theater in NYC when I was 17.  Boy that was a long time ago.

escort cards

I plan on creating something unique for my own wedding.  I love the ideas of having escort cards that double as favors.  I recently added these fabric flower escort cards to my Shop.  I think these flower pins will be a fun little gift for our guests.  And I bet by the end of the night everyone will be wearing them!

Here are some other sweet ideas I found.  Love the soda bottles!
What will you be doing for your escort cards?  We'd love to know!

handmade crush

What handmade goodies are you planning on incorporating?  If I could do a completely handmade wedding I would!  Backyard with twinkly lights is totally my style.  But I will be having a large wedding at a beautiful golf course.  But don't worry there will plenty of handmade aspects.  I will share them as the "big day" gets closer.  I would love to know what you are making for your wedding.  Here are a few ideas I love.  One of them will be making an appearance at my wedding in May!  My sister and daughter are helping me make 125 of them.

Where to find these lovely details:
Ring Box, Cake Bunting, Smart Couple Cake Topper, Paper Mobiles, Program, Flower Clips, Bow Ties

Have You Met.....

Julia and Yuriy Manchik.
The are photographers.  They work together photographing people and weddings.  They recently wed {September 25, 2010}.  Right after the wedding they left for a six month travel adventure.  They are traveling the world!
Their plans:  Paris, London, Croatia, Greece, Turkey, Thailand, and beyond...
Here is my fav part....  the whole trip is completely on the fly!  The only plan they had was departure tickets to Paris & an apartment for a week in Paris.  That's it!  How brave are they?!
How can they afford it?  They didn't have a typical wedding registry.   Like most of us, they already had pot & pans before the big day.  So they created a travel registry.  Their wedding guests helped send them on this amazing adventure.
Along the way they are journaling their trip and sharing it on their blog.  The pictures are dreamy.  And there are lots of them!
Here are some of my fav:
Check out their wedding photos.

Let's talk about bronzer.

I have a friend that uses way too much bronzer.  {Just my opinion}  I bet you have a have a bronzer addicted friend as well.  I absolutely think it's an addiction, like tanning, drinking, dating the wrong guy, etc.  So how do we tell her that her she is much prettier without all of the bronzer.  That her skin color look so unnatural and just orange.  That sometime her addiction is so distracting I can't even focus on anything she is saying.  How do we tell her this without hurting her feelings and ruining her day and self-esteem?
Do we tell her?  I haven't and not feeling brave enough to do so.  Are you?  Have you?
So maybe your the friend and you kind of know it...
Here are some tips on how to apply bronzer.

Powder Bronzer provides a smooth and even application on all skin tones. It is perfect for enhancing a skin tone or straightened a tan. The powder bronzers are easy to apply on the whole body and especially on the face. They work best for those with oily skin.
For perfect application a big and wipe brush is needed. When applying the powder bronzer using a brush you can create a soft dusting. Dab the brush into the color; tap it on the back of your hand in order to remove any excess. Apply the bronzer with attention to your cheekbones, chin, nose and around the eyes. Using a circular motion, start powder application on the cheek apple and brush on bronzing powder. Brush down lightly applying bronzer to each side of the nose and under the lower lip.
Cream Bronzer is appropriate for all skin types, and especially for those with dry skin. You can apply the bronzer with a sponge or using your fingers. Before applying the bronzer your skin should be thoroughly exfoliated. Take a little bit of the exfoliating products and gently rub it onto your skin. Remove any jewelery before you start. Apply the bronzer and rub your fingers together to even the color. Dab the bronzer onto the apples of the cheeks. Blend the bronzer well with circular motions. Build the color slowly. Apply bronzer also on your shoulders and breast to complete the sun kissed look. Build up the color gradually, in order to get exactly the shade you want.

Useful Tips:
  • Too dark shades may look unnatural!  {This is the key to success.  Don't you think?  I would suggest consulting an expert.  Usually it's free.  Try a makeup counter at Nordstom, Macy's, etc.  Or even Sephora.}
  • If you want to make your skin luminous, look for products with a subtle shimmer.
  • Keep your foundation to a minimum if you wear bronzer on your face, otherwise your complexion may look too orange. {Another great tip}
  • Remember: if you apply the bronzer unevenly you can make your skin appear “dirty“.
  • Make sure your bronzer isn't too heavy.
  • Bronzers come in liquids, creams, powders, sticks, beads, mousses.
  • If you use a powder bronzer apply it with a big, round brush.
  • Never overdo it, your skin will look unnatural and “dirty“.
  • Always apply the bronzer on areas where the sun usually hits.
  • Using a bronzer is the best way to warm up your face and add color to it.
  • When using a bronzer keep your makeup as simple as possible.
  • The bronzer should be a few shades darker than your skin tone.
  • Don't apply too much makeup when you have applied bronzer.
  • Wash your hand immediately after the application.
  • Keep the makeup colors as natural as possible.
  • Always make sure you blend well.
  • Stay away from the orange tones they look unnatural and fake.
  • Avoid contact with eyes.
  • Avoid contact with clothes for at least one hour after application.
  • Use bronzer in place of blush, sweeping it over cheekbones will add definition to the face.

And just to clarify, I am no expert!  I wear very little makeup.  I hardly ever wear bronzer.  I found my perfect color with help of Ronny at Sephora.  Thank you Ronny for all of your wisdom.
